The Federal Ministries/Divisions/Departments and Provincial Governments have immensely benefited from Bureau's technical services regarding identification of I.T requirements, computer equipment procurement, selection of I.T. manpower, software development, implementation of I.T. systems and other related services etc. The Bureau has also rendered help to the Federal Ministries/Divisions and Provincial Government in System Study, Design & Implementation of different applications.

HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

Effective utilization of I.T. facilities largely depends on the availability of trained manpower. To cater to the overall requirements of Government Organizations, the Pakistan Computer bureau has drawn up a comprehensive Human Resource Development Programme comprising intensive and short courses. Basically, the following types of training is offered:

  1. Management Development Programme
  2. Technical/Professional Manpower Training Programme
  3. Special Training Programme

The management courses aim to equip the I.T. users with broad knowledge and understanding of basic concepts of computers, potential areas where I.T. can be used, planning for I.T. projects and managing their development and implementation.The prgramme for the training of technical and professional manpower comprises Systems Analysis and Designs, Programming Languages, Micro-Computer Applications, Office Automation Softwares, Operating Systems (LINUX & WINDOWS), software packages and 4GLs. These courses are designed to impart professional knowledge and skills for study and analysis of the systems; design of I.T. based systems and preparation of plans for implementation of I.T. projects.

SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION

Some of systems developed by the Bureau are now running successfully by the concerned Departments on their own computer systems:

  • Examination System of Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad.
  • Recruitment and Examination System of Federal Public Service Commision.Complaints System of Wafaqi Mohtasib Secreteriat.
  • Processing of Hajj applications involving balloting and air reservations, booking of accomodation and establishing MIS.
  • Payroll System for the Federal Government Employees of AGPR.
  • Processing of Examination Data of Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Rawalpindi.
  • Processing of Billing System of NTC of Islamabad, Peshawer, Lahore, Karachi and Quetta Regions.
  • Processing of Payroll of CDA.

Real life systems being run by the Pakistan Computer Bureau for varoius organizations include the folllowing :

  • Processing of Water Billing and Property Tax Billing of CDA.
  • Processing of Examination Data of Higher Secondary School Certificate Examinations of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rawalpindi.
  • Maintaining of Personal Management Information System of APUG groups under the Establishment Division.
  • Payroll of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Processing of data of employees of Federal Government ,Federal Employees, Semi Government Employees and Autonomous bodies employees.
  • Processing of data of Federal Employees' children, Stipend Scheme for Staff Welfare Organization.
