| I.T TRAINING FOR FEDERAL AND PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES IN ALL PROVINCES INCLUDING AJK

Under the project training would be imparted to 10,000 employees of the
Federal and Provincial Governments at Islamabad/Rawalpindi and all the Provincial
Headquarters including AJK and Ex-Divisional Headquarters of Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Baluchistan.
The project has been prepared on the demands of the Federal and Provincial Governments.
It will be extremely helpful in the introduction of E-Government and will improve administrative
efficiency, office productivity and will promote transparency in the Federal Government and
the Provinces.
The citizens will also benefit as the standard and quality of public services will be imparted
through effective use of IT in the public sector.
The project will extend the training facilities to the Government Servants of the
Federal Government and the Provinces including AJK through out-sourcing to the well-reputed
training institutions at the Provincial Headquarters including AJK and at Ex-Divisional
Headquarters of Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Baluchistan.
The training program for 10,000 people in MS. Windows, MS Office, Open Source Softwares
(Linux O/S, Open/Star Office) and Internet will be started in Islamabad/Rawalpindi and all
the major cities of the four Provinces and AJK. The trainees will be taught the basic features
of both proprietary and open source softwares, which will enable them to compare and choose
among the two operating systems and their softwares.
The training will be imparted in the following areas:-
- Introduction to PCs
- Windows Operating System
- MS Office (MS Words, Excel, Access and Power Point)
- Linux O/S
- Open/Star Office (Writer, Calc and Impress)
- Internet/Multimedia, e-Mail
Simultaneously with the selection of Institutes, another advertisement will be sent to
the press for registration of the participants. The only eligibility requirement would
be that the:-"candidates must be an employee of B-5 and above of the Federal Government,
Provincial Governments or its Attached Departments or AJK". A data base of the applications
thus received will be created and eligible participants will be nominated to different
institutes on first come first serve basis.
The training activities will be closely monitored by the Pakistan Computer Bureau.
The institutes imparting training will be regularly visited by the officers of the
Pakistan Computer Bureau to ensure the quality of training. Final examination for each
course will be conducted under the supervision of Pakistan Computer Bureau. The payment
to the institutes will also be made for only successful participants. Pakistan Computer
Bureau will award its own certificates to the successful participants of each batch. The
training Program will continue for two years.
